The Top 5 Favorite Songs from the Supernatural TV Series

Supernatural: a TV show that is so successful it has become supernatural in its own right. The show is so ingrained in our pop culture that it has garnered countless references in movies, TV shows, and comics. It is a show that is fluid with its audience, as in, having a completely interactive experience with its dedicated fans. Some have even theorized (convincingly) that is an allegory of the US’s “crusade” against “terrorism”.

But it’s really about the music.

Supernatural has done an incredible job of incorporating pop-culture music into its encapsulating storylines. Based on a recent poll I ran for Supernatural fans on my Twitter account, we have compiled a top 5 list of favorite songs in the Supernatural series. The response was massive and I’m excited to announce your selection! As an added bonus, my SoCal-based rock band, the Alaeddin X, will record and release a cover of the winning song on our YouTube channel.

#5 The song "Oh Death" sung by Jen Titus

This version of the song was produced and rewritten especially for Supernatural. Known as one the best character introductions ever, this is an amazing song and loved by many fans of the show.

#4 Simple Man - Performed by Jason Manns and Jensen Ackles

This Lynard Skynard classic was covered beautifully by my longtime friend Jason Manns and Supernatural Star Jensen Ackles. Another favorite by the fans, especially when put to scenes focusing on Dean.

#3 Renegade by Styx in the Nightshifter Episode

Brilliantly done. The way Renegade was incorporated into the last scene of Season 2 was one of the best scenes in the entire Supernatural series.

#2 Don't Fear the Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult

Almost making the top of the list is Don't Fear the Reaper, which was featured on the 'Faith' episode. While available on the original Blue Ray/DVDs, this song cannot be heard on the Netflix version of the series.

#1 Carry on My Wayward Son by Kansas

Topping the list by a far margin is Carry on My Wayward Son by Kansas, which was featured during "The Road So Far" recaps at the beginning of the Season Finale episodes. With just over 10 million views, this video is worth a watch.

While we love all of the songs on the list, the Alaeddin X will do a cover of "Carry on My Wayward Son", and will be posting it January 2018. In the meantime, make sure to signup to be the first to find out about exclusive deals and news.
